Did I say the first two-thirds of my manuscript would be ready for critique by Aug. 1? Who was I kidding?!
I’m getting bogged down mostly by the beginning (more about that next week if it’s still a problem). But the rest is coming together nicely, and so I say, that’s still progress!
Links I gathered for you this week:
Chapter One, you’ve got my full attention this weekend. (Well, except for Saturday night.) I will conquer you.
Thanks for the links!
I do like the idea of writing the query first. I always write the back cover copy first to see how it looks.

Thanks for the links. Good luck with Chapter 1!
Great links again! I love checking what helpful ones you find.
Oh yeah, and I am a Target shopper who often browses their books. I usu. end up buying a couple each time.
I’ve missed so many self imposed deadlines that I don’t even bother anymore. 🙂
Your advice to write the query letter first is brilliant. This is definitely something I will employ.
Sara — Thanks, but that’s Janice’s advice, not MY advice! 🙂
Gonna have to go visit all these links. I like the idea of writing the query first. Makes you focus and zero in on the gem of your story.

Great links as always. That article about Target was amazing. I had no idea — it’s better than Oprah!
My book Breakthrough is available to order through Target’s Web site. Now I’m motivated to contact corporate and try to get the book in the stores. Thanks for the link.
Do you have an editor for your manuscript?
Stephen Tremp
Hey Stephen,
Go for it! No editor yet, although I have a few in mind. I’m taking it one step at a time.
Wow, the BookEnds link about why agent stops reading query had nearly 80 comments. Wished my blog was that popular as well.
