I’m all about do-it-yourself websites. But my DIY headers just weren’t cutting it. I managed to teach myself WordPress and CSS and HTML, but I do not, apparently, have an eye for design.
That’s why I hired Debbie Ridpath Ohi, a writer and illustrator who some of you may know as @inkyelbows, to draw the header that now welcomes you to my site. She did an awesome job, don’t you think? She’s affordable, easy to work with and exactly the type of writer I like to support.
(Like the way my site looks? I use the Thesis theme for WordPress. If you buy it through this link, I benefit.)
I’ve enjoyed building this blog into a community with enough eyes that I finally had to dress it up a little. And soon I’ll be taking it to the next level. In the coming months, I’m planning to launch several projects that should appeal to the writers, travelers and wannabe-social-media-ninjas amongst us. Get psyched!
That is a beautiful new banner, Alexis! I cannot wait to see everything you have cooking! Congrats on the new look.
Love the new header!
I love the new header. And good for you to hire out what you’re not best at! 🙂
Looks so awesome and very you! Can’t wait to see all the new stuff coming to your site!
Thanks, guys! Glad y’all like it 🙂
I love it too and am excited for all the new perks!
Found your site through a random retweet and LOVE it! Keep up the great work. Though I don’t know what your old logo looked like, this one is pretty sweet!
I love the new header. But then, I love Debbie’s work, so no surprise that this is up to her normal standards. Hiring an illustrator never crossed my mind when I was revamping my website – I went the route of buying some graphics. Hiring an illustrator definitely would have given my site a more personal feel than going to a clip art site.
Thanks, Megan. She’s great! And produced exactly what I asked for. Keep her in mind for the future 🙂
Congrats on the new look. Can’t wait to see all the other changes!
