Books That Make Great Holiday Gifts

December 5, 2011

Who doesn’t love a good book for the holidays? It’s a great way to give a present that will actually be used, and you can support a writer while you’re at it.

A few books I’d recommend as gifts from the pile I read this year:

Another someone who loves this time of year...

The Secret Daughter. I don’t read many novels, but a friend recommended this and it was SUCH a good read. I finished it in two days during a writer’s residency.

The 4-Hour Workweek. If there’s an entrepreneur in your life, this is the perfect gift. Lots of applicable take-aways.

Undecided. I’ve written about this book several times; it’s the perfect gift for the ambitious wife, daughter or friend.

Dieting with my Dog. It’s a feel-good, motivational read, and the author is one of the nicest people around. What better reason to purchase? Especially good for moms.

The Memory Palace. Beautiful — if sad — memoir, one of the best one I read this year.

Finally, I’m offering a 15% sale on both my eguides — How to Build a Part-Time Social Media Business and How to Take a Career Break to Travel — through December. (Use code “holidays” at checkout.)

If you want to give either as a gift, shoot me a note and I’ll send you a postcard (for free) of the cover image that you can tuck inside a card. I’m also willing to offer the same discount for my blog coaching package, if that would be the perfect gift for the blogger in your life.

What books would you add to this list of recommendations?

I just popped onto your blog to say hello, and what a wonderful surprise to see that you mentioned my book! Thank you so much! I’m going to check out a few of these books on your list for my daughter. And I also think that your eguides would be the perfect gift for smart and savvy people out there!
